There are three types of data to backup: log data, configuration and metadata, and collector configuration.

Log data backup

Log data backup is performed through the UI, automatically or manually. Data is archived (backed-up) at a specified target (local, FTP, SFTP, SCP, S3). This is configured from the archives and exports page. Data can then be restored from the same page by selecting the right archive from the target.

Configuration and metadata backup

Configuration and metadata is stored in Apache Cassandra and can be backed-up using the following command on the appliance:

$ zip -r /var/lib/cassandra/data

Collector configurations

Collector configuration is stored in application.yaml and can be backed-up by copying that file.
